    ATTENTION:

Here is the TRUTH ABOUT AUTO GETRIEBE DAMAGES: KM175-5 or F4A22-2 or F4A23-2

    http://www.carsurvey.org/review_47373.html

"Transmission stuffed up at 125000km (a bearing went causing a catastrophic failure) - apparently this is a common fault in Mitsi's with the F4A23-2 transmission fitted (Galant's, Starion's, as well as Chariots). There is a cooler that runs into the radiator. This blocks, causing the transmission to overheat, the blockage also prevents fluid reaching bearings, so they seize and break (and the metal goes stright into the primary gear which cost $1600 for that part alone). I note that others report the same.

The above apparently is preventable by fitting a transmission cooling unit and having regular transmission services."

figure out that this is what i found also to my getriebe, i diconnected the under radiator oil cooler, and couldn't pass air through, i had to connect an big air blow device to make it work.

At least i am not keeping the info for my self.

It's 10000% sure this happens to ALL.

Ok, i understand that all santamos didn't had wireless control open-lock doors, or a kind of alarm with this function from the Hyundai as default.

It will look crazy, but in greece, ALL hyundai have this 2-3 buttons Hyundai alarm system,as Hyndai greece imported them all, with missing many good things, like ABS, and putting radios, alarms and so on.

Anyway, today i checked AT oil level, seems perfect, and i connected the drivers-door red lamp which was only disconnected, by the previous maybe owner, who might had a problem with electric windows.

    look pics.

I mean that i prefer oil that is constructed by mitsu than another brand-name.

and yes, i did a 10 min , walk-around neighborhood, no problems seems, but no more drive, until check right the level of ATF to the stick, as COLD and HOT.

    another question:

did santamo had as standard equippment any kind of alarm, immobilizer? or remote lock-unlock doors keys?

mine has just 2 black plastic keys.

all santamo are by hyundai equipped as that?

i am happy that i put GENUINE oil, if you know what i mean, and i wish i have no other problem.
The old oil i flushed through the oil-cooler pipes, was like gear-oil, i was suprised cause the oil-level stick was showing red color.

It took me from 15:00 till 22:00 to do the procedure right, i hope so.

    thanks for the ebay link.

I went to local HYUNDAI dealers, no luck.
I went to mitsubishi and they were selling only 20 liters quantity, no less.

so i bought the Genuine Mitsubishi ATF MM-SP-III in a very high price.

better sit before you hear the price!!!!

205 Euros for 20 Liter ATF.

If someone can check in germany, if the price is the same, cause i don't believe it.

    This price is in greece.

    check pics.

Anyway, I flushed the whole system with at least 8 liters ATF, and the gearbox is working perfect. Time will tell us.

Hi, the feel i had something is wrong came true.
2 days ago the getriebe made by itself some upshift-downshift and was shutting car off, when i do reverse and then D.
It happend 20 times, so i have to find whats up.
Here HYUNDAI and MITSUBISHI doesn;t have genuine oils. I looked everywhere, no luck.

If you please can give me directions from where to buy:

    1. Mitsubishi / HYUNDAI ATF SP (or SP-III) 6 liters, and what is the part number to order from local dealer.

    2. The getriebe Genuine filter to change it, what is it's part number.

As i have told my car is a 1999 HYUNDAI santamo 2.0Lt AT G4CP and my

    VIN: KMXMSE1PPXU058042

    thanks

Today, i had too much snow at my parking, so wait warm 5 min, then front with D, and then pressed H (HOLD) switch, as the ownners manuals says it's for snow.
after pressing H (HOLD) i putted R for reversing to a high place with snow from my parking place.
everything finished fine except that when i putted again D to go to the road, the engine was misfiring and stopped working. 10 times.
I tried to move the car with N, to take it to the side of the road but it looked like stucked.
i pressed the switch to the middle L () H but still the same.
after these 10 times, i putted R and moved normally, then again D and normal again.
after that happening, i made 100 km with no problem.
It seems to me that with H switch, we get sometthing like locking differentials for better grip.

anyone has any think about that?

    maybe the gearbox CPUs?

do you remember if the space-wagon auto getriebe is mechanic or electronic. By electronic i mean that all new auto, have CPUs.
If space-wagon don't has electronics for gearbox then i might be able to find one, in case i get worst problems.

Hi, I had a lot of automatic cars, last was a 1991 corolla 1.6 GLi 3-speed Auto (no verdrive) type of getriebe was A131L (full mechanic, no electronics).
    It was working perfect.
With a little gas pedal press, you were getting at once, downshifting for better accelereation, and getriebe was responding more faster, eventhough it was just 105ps motor.

Now, with this 1999 hyundai santamo auto+OD, i check the color of the gearbox oil, the level while working and hot with N or P, and everything fine, but very-very-very slow responding transmission.

Also when cold of course, i wait 2 min, and then engage getriebe, just to give it time to make pressure.

When cold, you don't hear a tick o a noise from the engine, but if you go up a hill, the getriebe seems to be a bit pressed more, and when i park my car i hear a steady noise like a bad rod knock, which of course comes from getriebe, nit from engine.

The total car is perfect form my needs, except fuel consumption, and now , a feeling i have about these gearboxs.

I am a mechanic, and i tell you, no metal like 1980-1994 japanese motors, transmissions, and everything. 100% working LIFETIME cars.

for example, when i am going 70 km/h and come to leave the road, and get to a small road, this auto takes too much time to downshift from 3rd to 1st, and i have to press gently the gas pedal.

do all of you have this auto getriebe as normal working?

    Best Regards

    Greece.

Finally with 2008 i will get the greek licence plates, after stayed for a week to athens for vehicle certifications by some "wise" guys of goverment.

    Hi
I just went to a HYUNDAI "specialist", big-name in my city.He was working as a head-mechanic in HYUNDAI service, and after many years he opened his own garage.
Eventhough i see my car in perfect condition, he is 100% sure, that Santamo is the worst HYUNDAI, and cause it's 90% mitsubishi, everything is wrong.

Also that Mitsu, eventhough it's japan made, is very bad in quality.

I was astonished, cause i can't believe this guy!

He tells many problems with motor and auto-gearbox, and suggest me not to press too much the gas pedal.

When i requested 1 lt of DIAMOND ATF SP, he had nothing, and suggested DEXRON II - IID -III, it's the same he tells.

I believe i should only use specific ATF, not another, or maybe HYUNDAI ATF.

Anyone problem with this motor and transmission?

    you had a 92 space-wagon?

can you please in which matter is better each one? santamo or space?

it's very interesting, as i can agree, seems to me, too much fuel even for a such high, big car.

I think HYUNDAI injection systems gives power to the car, which i feel it very strong, but takes a lot of fuel.

Did 92 space-wagon was really the same car?

note: I have a Supra with 7MGTE 280rwhp, so i really have a feel, how power is.

I read and translated your check list.
    Auxiliary work all 60000 km
    • Wedge/flat straps for all Nebenaggregate replace (only Fzg. also
4-Zyl. - engines as well as Fzg. with 6 cylinder engines to inclusively. MJ 98,
    not Fzg. with CRDi engine)
    • Fuel filters replace
    • Toothed belts replace, belts for balance waves examine
(only Fzg. starting from MJ 93 to inclusively. MJ 96),
    • Toothed belts examine (only Fzg. starting from MJ 97, not Fzg. with CRDi engine)

    Auxiliary work all 90000 km
    • Toothed belts replace (only Fzg. starting from MJ 97, not Fzg with CRDi engine),

our cars are 1999 models. so they fit to late MJ 97 service intervals which i think that i read exactly 90000km.

if i am wrong explain please.

    Thanks

    Hi,

My car has now 126.000km, i have service stamps till 90.000km, maybe that was the time when the previous owner payed A LOT of MONEY for changing the 2 timing belts, one for the timing, and 1 for the counterweight anti-vibrating axle.

I have autodata 2007, and vivd workshop and still i am not sure what are the changing intervals?

    60000 km or 90000 km?

If someone works to the German HYUNDAI and has answer, or when you go for a service, when did they changed to your santamo the timing belt.

Please mark that the motors , for example trajet and all with the HYUNDAI stamp on the timing belt upper cover, ALL of them are 90000 km intervals.

    Hi,
From the day I got 1999 Santamo, I am please with everything except fuel consumption. The car has the J4CP-Doch motor and automatic gearbox
The price of this car is very cheap and reliable compared to VW sharah, SEAT alambra and so on.
I just made some driving around city, and found that it take 12 lt/100Km which is very-very high fuel consumption.
Is this normal for that car?
Also I like it’s not so big like trajet, cause when women drives it, they don’t feel
    The walls.
And the A/T gearbox is a bit slow in changing gears.
And finally no room for luggage when 7-seats.

    Thanks

    Hallo,
